Mobile Blogging

Now this is pretty cool. My boss just got me a new Blackberry 8700 and I'm using it to post to this blog. Isn't technology great? We just came back from California, so I'll be posting some pics very soon. For now I'm gonna see how far I can take blogging from the berry. Ohh I like that, "Blogging from the 'berry". Remember folks, you heard it here first! TTFN

EEEEEEEETTTTTSSSSSS AAAAALLLLIIIIVE!!!!!!

It looks like I have been away for a long time. According to my records the last time I posted was way back in September. Needless to say, plenty has happened since then. Here's a quick summary:

Visited Paris in November to celebrate our one-year anniversary, started studying for the Architectural Registration Exam, got rid of the prized yuzu tree because the dog was allergic to it, made a prime rib roast for Christmas, bought a Playstation 3, lost a very close relative to liver cancer, passed the Pre-Design component of the ARE, and completed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.

This was just a quick update, check back soon for some pics!

Bridge for Sale... Only 1 Dollar!

I went on a site visit yesterday to the Brooklyn Bridge. Well actually into the Brooklyn Bridge. This is one of the most fascinating expeditions I've been on for the job.

The cellar levels were particularly creepy and cryptlike. This pic was taking using just the flash on my camera. No installed electrical lighting was present. We were navigating mainly with flashlights and a generator powered work light.

The top floor of the bay that we were in has the most awesome arched space. It would actually be a really cool apartment!

Thank god I was wearing a hard hat. See that diagonal piece of steel? (previous photo) My head made contact with it while I was trying to make it up the "stairs of death" coming up from the second floor. As you can see from the photo, each step was dangerouly skewed and the entire stair is precariously leaning. (See below)

The good news is, I lived to tell the story. But I gotta say, this has been quite the experience.

I'm Doing My Part!

So what's on my PSP now? Starship Troopers, the CG Animated Series. I've gotta tell you that I've had this series for a while but I hesitated to watch it. I thought it would be pretty cheesy. Then one day, after I completed watching all of BattleStar Galactica Season 2, I needed something to occupy my time on the ride to work. So I thought I'd give the Starship Troopers Series a try. Not too shabby actually. The CG is pretty cool. This should keep me entertained for a bit. Check it out, just don't go into it with a preconceived notions and don't expect much. It is afterall just entertainment. If anything, just check out the CG and the technology. Peace out, what's the matter, you wanna live forever?

Are we there yet?

Just got back from our trip to Rochester. Six hours of continuous driving sure takes a toll on you. Luckily for my two passengers all they had to concentrate on was their nap.

So why'd we go to Rochester you ask?

To visit some beloved friends of ours who are expecting their first! And to throw them a surprise (.... well not really a surprise as it turns out) baby shower.

Our own little baby, Kaiser had a blast running around like a mad dog in our friends' backyard. (Pics coming.) That little Jack never looked so pooped before. (Thanks Ed!) When I left the house this morning, he totally skipped breakfast and went back to his little bed. This weekend was Kaisers longest car ride.... he was really ansy after two hours on the way up. We're really glad we brought him up there though, we even delayed our trip back down to the city because he was having so much fun with our friends' neighbor. It's funny how everything seems to revolve around this little guy...

Edit:

So much grass, so little time...

BSG

I just finished the last episode of Season Two of the New Battlestar Galactica Series. I've been hooked on the series since the first season. I've gotta tell you that this is one of the best TV series that I have ever seen. IMO the stories are well written, the characters are believable, and the plots are rock solid. If you haven't caught on yet, please give it try, it's not some cheesy Sci-Fi Channel Movie (they sure have many). Trust me you'll end up feeling the pains and joys of each character on the show, then again, maybe I'm just a softy.

Yuzu, where are you?

My search for Yuzu is almost over. I found a farm in California that sells dwarf citrus trees and I just couldn't resist. Hopefully, my yuzu tree will arrive this week. I'll post some pics when I repot it. I've already found some great recipes that can take advantage of the Yuzu fruit (mmmmm.... Yuzu sorbet), but I doubt I'll see any fruit until next year.

I'm hit!!! I'm hit!!!

Gotta love the 360...

I've been addicted to playing Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter recently. It doesn't help that my frends are also addicted to it as well. Playing a couple of Co-op missions definitely can burn some daylight. Playing GRAW on a XBOX 360 in widescreen HD is enough to make a grown man shed a tear of joy.

I realized how Paintball-ish the battles could get (less the pain and paint) and how it's a decent substitute for the game when I can't make it out to the field. Oh my trigger finger is getting itchy again.....
